Antique solid-silver incense navette or Boat made in Italy (Papal States) circa 1880. This delicate piece of religious silverware is original from the late 19th century. The stem has a discreet ancient reparation which in no way interferes with the pieces attractive design. The incense navette is composed of a conical foot which connects with a slim stem. The foot is adorned with a hand-engraved shield with a crown on top and the inscription SPWR (the emblem of the city of Rome) in a crossed band. We can also see the hallmark of the Papal States, also stamped in the lid. The top vessel (the incense boat itself) is decorated with schematic embossed flowery branches which create a fine stylized design.
