Gorgeous antique gilded silver and metal chalice with paten, made in France circa 1900 and boasting an elegant design. The chalices cup and the paten are made of gilded silver, while the rest of the chalice is made of gold-plated metal. The foot is circular and conical in shape; it gets narrower at the top, creating a fluid and harmonious design. It bears a fine decoration divided in three sections: the front side shows an embossed cross and the rest are inserted in circular medallions and depict the classic Eucharist symbols, the wheat stalks and the bunches of grapes in the vine. The stem is completely covered of hand-engraved motifs, showing off a gothic-style diamond pattern with medieval flowers. It bears two nodes, the main one and a secondary one. The lean silver cup fits into a sub-cup adorned with the same symbols as the chalices foot. Near the edge we can see the hallmark which identifies antique French silver pieces, also stamped in the paten, and the silversmiths mark. The paten is decorated with the hand-engraved IHS acronym and an image of the Sacred Heart. Every lover of old-time sacred art will appreciate the attractiveness and the elegance of this antique gilded silver and metal chalice with paten. Dimensions: Chalice: Foots Width: 5.51 in / 14 cm.
