Antique French gilded silver ciborium, made in France in the late 19th century and of amazing presence. This fine-looking sacred art piece stands out for its value: it is entirely made of high-quality silver, confirmed by the ancient hallmarks that we can see at the foot, the cup and the lid. These marks also indicate the procedence of the piece, Lyon. The fine hand-engraved decoration repeats the same design all over the piece. It is composed of Eucharist-related and Christian motifs, framed by lean silver volutes. We can see images of wheat stalks, bunches of grapes and reeds, symbols of the Eucharistic bread and wine and the people of God. These motifs can be seen at the circular base, the node, the cup and the lid; they are wonderfully performed, engraved by hand with full detail. At the top, the ciboriums lid is crowned by a delicate and beautiful Latin cross that acts as a handle too. Every lover of religious silver quality pieces will appreciate the beauty and the value of this antique French gilded silver ciborium. Dimensions; Foots Width: 4.53 in / 11.5 cm.
