Antique Silver Chalice and Paten Set. France, 19th Century

Antique silver chalice and paten set, made in France in the 19th century and in very good condition. The chalice is a gorgeous piece, with a medieval-inspired decoration and great engraved and embossed motifs. It bears hallmarks in all its parte: the foot, the stem and the cup. The hallmarks testify for the quality, the ancient age and the origin of the article. The foot is lobed in shape and is embellished with symmetrical embossed vegetal-inspired motifs: flowers, reeds and plants with berries. The images are separated by lance-shaped leaves which start at the stem and reach the foots edge in a very elegant way. The stem is delicately decorated with small points; the central node shows off the same engraved and embossed motifs as the foot and the subcup. The gilded-silver paten is a very simple piece, with no engraved decoration at all and its correspondent hallmarks.
