Extraordinary gilt silver ciborium with enamels, made in France circa 1900 and in excellent condition. This fine item, more than one century old, bears hallmarks in all its parts which testify for its quality and origin. It is a really spectacular piece which combines a beautiful gilt finish with the enamels at the foot and the node and the fine turquoises. The foot is divided in six pointed sections. Three of them have circular medals with images of the Sacred Family: Jesus, Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph. They are enamels in full color, carefully painted by hand and with a great attention to detail. Though showing the occasional hairline, they are complete and very well preserved. The sections between enamels are adorned with delicate silver lattice motifs and turquoise cabochons. The ribbed stem has a main node with engraved schematic wheat stalks, symbol of the Eucharistic Bread. This decoration is mixed with six circular enamels depicting flowers in two shades of blue and gold outlines. The sub-cup is a superb piece, a great silver lattice work matching the foots decoration. It is adorned with turquoise cabochons. This decoration is repeated at the lid, crowned by an elegant and discreet cross. This extraordinary gilt silver ciborium with enamels stands out for its amazing design, gorgeous enamels and excellent condition. Dimensions: Foots Width: 6.5 in / 16.5 cm. Height: 12.2 in / 31 cm.
