Very antique Spanish solid-silver chalice made in Zaragoza, Spain in the 18th century (circa 1770). 100% silver. The chalice comes with an antique paten, also made of silver but with no hallmarks. The own chalice has hallmarks, bearing the Zaragoza mark and the mark of the silversmith Domingo Estrada, active between 1751 and 1791. It is a sturdy and imposing piece, with an original design and entirely covered of hand-engraved shapes and motifs. The foot is ample and circular in shape; it is adorned with classic and symmetrical images such as scrolls, pineapples and scallops. This decoration continues at the stem and the nodes until the subcup, a bulb-shaped part which contains a gilt-silver straight cup with no decoration at all. The paten, on the other hand, is made of non-gilt silver and bears no decoration, too. This antique Spanish solid-silver chalice, 100% silver and with paten, is a striking item worthy to take part in the celebration of Eucharist or to become part of a great collection.
