Striking antique silver chalice with silver paten coming from Paris, made between 1818 and 1838 and in good condition while the paten is from the end of the 19th century. The chalice boasts an elegant design, stylized and simple, which turns it into a timeless piece. The foot is circular in shape, and the only decoration it bears is a slim hand-engraved band and a simple image of the Cross on Calvary which marks the front side of the piece. It bears hallmarks which testify for the ancient age and the quality of the silver it is made of. The stem is composed of a big tapered main node and two smaller secondary nodes, located on top and below the main one. The gilt-silver cup sits on a fine openwork subcup with delicate images of wheat stalks and bunches of grapes, symbolizing the Eucharistic Bread and Wine. Close to the cups edge we can see the same hallmarks which we found at the foot. The paten is made of silver too and is slightly bumped at the edge. It bears a hand-engraved acronym of Jesus Christ (IHS), a Cross on top of the H and three swords below. This antique silver chalice with silver paten will shine during the celebration of the Mass or as part of a collection of sacred silverwork. Dimensions: Chalice: Foots Width: 5.31 in / 13.5 cm.
