Antique gilt-metal bookstand with enamels made in France in the 19th century, complete and in good use condition. The bookstand shows no flaws or signs of wear, neither at the metal openwork structure or the enamels. It is an article of great beauty and elegance. Perhaps it would need a polish to display its full potential beauty. The bookstand is square in shape and is composed of metal pieces inspired in medieval motifs: four-petal rosettes, diamond bands, claw-shaped legsThese pieces are welded and make up a fine openwork structure, visually very light. The front side is adorned with four colorful enamels: a central cross and the symbols of the Four Evangelist on both sides. The enamels display a great color array and remain in fine condition. On top and below them there are some green and red crystal stones, original from the time. The foldable lid, which stands still thanks to a lower hinged rectangular piece, is decorated with an engraved gothic cross which has been partially erased by t the trace of time and the use. Nevertheless, is still slightly visible. This antique gilt-metal bookstand with enamels is the perfect accessory to read the Scriptures, but also to exhibit ancient books and codices with the relevance they deserve.
