Antique Solid-Silver Chalice with Diamonds and Emerald. France, 1935

Antique solid-silver chalice with diamonds and an emerald, coming from France and made in 1935. The set stands out for its amazing condition and sober and stylish design, and comes in its original storing case. The chalice combines plain and gilt silver and has an ample and stylized foot. At the front side we can see a cross-shaped silver appliqué, adorned with a lovely carved emerald at the center. The stem has a node which shows a great ornamentation, with small groups of authentic diamonds, 10 in total. Inside the foot we can see a hand-engraved inscription: LA XAVIERE, 1935. Just below it we can see a small silver plate with the silversmiths name, AMEDEE CATELAN DE LYON. Moreover, the chalice bears several hallmarks at the foot and the cup. This piece comes with a gorgeous solid-silver paten, decorated with a central engraved Chrismon in gilt silver and with its own hallmarks. The storing case, on the other hand, is finely preserved and is the original one.
