Antique gilt metal and alpaca monstrance made in Spain circa 1950, complete and in fine condition. The monstrance does not bear hallmarks. The stem, the foot, the center and the straight sunrays are made of gilt metal, and the legs and the wavy sunrays could be of a silver alloy. The acid test has shown non-definitive results, which means that these pieces could be made of a low-silver-proportion alloy. In order to prevent confusion, when appraising the monstrance it has be decided to consider them alpaca. The foot is decorated with symmetrical engraved and embossed floral motif, simple and fine-looking. The cylindrical stem has two nodes, main and secondary, composed of moldings. The sunray has a circular central band adorned with a crown of thorns, framed by gilt and silvery beams of different shapes. The silvery beams, curved in shape and of vegetal inspiration, are trimmed with red stones at the ends. In the center the monstrance has the original lunette, for hosts until 2.36 inches in diameter.
