Gorgeous and very antique silver monstrance, complete and made in Paris, France between 1819 and 1838. This is a great piece of silverwork, with hallmarks in different places which testify for its origin, ancient age and quality. Among the marks we can see a female profile which indicates that the monstrance was made in Paris. The bearded man is the mark for silver French pieces made between 1819 and 1838. We can also see the silversmiths mark and a bigorne (a French control mark shaped as a winged insect). The monstrances foot is pyramidal in shape and has four legs. It is adorned with hand-engraved classic religious symbols: the Lamb of God and the Tables of the Law, together with wheat stalks and vines with bunches of grapes. The decoration mixes matt and glossy silver, creating a very attractive effect. The central node is shaped like a vase and is flanked by winged angels heads. Over the node, a bunch of wheat stalks supports the sun. This part is adorned with engraved clouds and angels heads surrounded by light beams. In the center, the monstrance keeps the silver lunette, big enough to house hosts 2.36 inches in diameter. As outstanding as valuable, this gorgeous and very antique silver monstrance, complete, is a real work of art more than one century old. Dimensions: Foot: Width: 6.69 in / 17 cm.
