Spectacular gilt silver chalice with scenes, made in France circa 1880 and in very good condition. It comes with an antique paten, also gilt silver and with an engraved central cross. Both pieces have hallmarks; we can see the mark for ancient French silver pieces and the silversmiths mark. The chalice bears them at the foot and near the edge of the cup. One of the most interesting features of this gorgeous item is its amazing decoration the foot shows three scenes of the Life of Jesus performed in great detail. They are crucial moments of the Gospel, the Birth, the Prayer in the Garden and the Crucifixion. Between then we can see images of vines with bunches of grapes, symbol of the Eucharistic Wine. At the node, the image of the vines is accompanied by a group of reeds and wheat stalks. The subcup is also a beautiful part, decorated with portraits of Virgin Mary, Jesus and Saint John, who we can identify for the profile of an eagle which emerges from the right. It also includes images of redes, wheat stalks and vines. Both pieces come in an ancient case, finely preserved and adapted to their size.
