Antique Gilt Silver Chalice and Paten Set. With Case. France, Circa 1880

Antique gilt silver chalice and paten set with storing case, made in France circa 1880 and in very good condition. This is a fine-looking item around 150 years old, with a simple and stylish decoration which turns it into a piece of timeless beauty. The chalice has lobed base, decorated with geometrical floral-inspired embossed medallions. Over it, the stem has two nodes, the main one adorned with schematic vegetal motifs similar to those of the foot. The same can be said about the subcup, which together with the rest of the chalices parts creates a uniform aesthetic, full of charm. The cup and the foot are marked with the French silver hallmark and the silversmiths mark. The silver paten which accompanies thee chalice is decorated with the hand-engraved monogram of Jesus Christ (IHS) and bears its own hallmarks.
