Gorgeous Antique Gilt and White Silver Ciborium. France, 19th Century

Gorgeous antique gilt and white silver ciborium made in France in the 19th century, in good condition and with embossed decoration. This piece of religious handcraft stands out for its great design, with ample lobed foot and stylized engraved wheat stalks everywhere which symbolize the Eucharistic Bread. It has hallmarks in all its parts which testify for its origin, ancient age and quality. The foot is divided in six sections, decorated with the mentioned stalks and elegant scrolls. Over it, the stem has two nodes: a main one with engraved wheat stalks and schematic flowers and a secondary one, with a rope-shaped silver applique underneath, at the point where it connects the foot. The subcup is adorned with an openwork decoration with the same wheat stalks, whose combination of gilt and white silver creates a very elegant effect. The cup has a wide mouth and is crowned by a beautiful lid, trimmed with cut silver flowers and decorated with embossed and engraved stalks. The combination of gilt and lean finishes is more visible here and stands out for its great look. The lid is crowned by a ball and a cross which act as a handle to lift it.

This gorgeous antique gilt and white silver ciborium is ideal for the celebration of Eucharist, being also an amazing religious antique.
