Aristocratic serving cutlery set made in France a tyhe end of XIX century and in excellent condition. The cutlery comes in an antique case, also very well preserved and perfect to store and protect them. The set is composed of eight pieces designed to perform different functions and made of bone and sterling silver. The silver parts bear different hallmarks, one of them showing the silversmiths initials GV separated by a cup-shaped design. We can also see the word PARIS engraved in the knifes blade. The pieces located in the middle of the case are made to serve desserts. The bone and silver spoon and fork are designed to serve salads and vegetables, while the rest of the cutlery, also made of silver, are for carving and serving meats and fish. The pieces boat a lovely design: the metal is decorated with embossed wavy modernist shapes that provide the cutlery with an amazing beauty. The dessert palette and spoon bear beautiful filigree motives cut in the silver. On the other hand, the dessert fork also shows off a fine engraved decoration just by the root of the tines. The carving fork bears a curious accessory to protect the fingers: a small lever that can be lifted to protect the users fingers when cutting with the knife. As stated before, the set comes in a sober case outside covered by faux leather and inside lined with bone-white satin. Both materials are in good condition, showing only slight signs of the trace of time and use that do not diminish at all the sets attractive look. Inside the case we can see the inscription Vincent AVIGNON clearly printed in black lettering. This serving cutlery set is bound to shine in the most elegant dinners, being a luxury accessory in the dining room of any lover of beauty. Measurements: Depth: 11.2 in / 29 cm.
