Amazing antique sterling silver cutlery set composed of twelve oyster forks in their original case. The set was made in France in the late 19th century and remains in excellent condition. The forks bear the hallmark for the French silver, a mark depicting Minerva goddesss profile. The twelve utensils are well organized in their original case, each one in its own compartment. The forks are all identical and bear the same decoration: the silver is embellished with fine floral-inspired designs in a clear Art Nouveau style that provide it with the classic naturalist beauty of this artistic trend. The forks handles show slim lines that frame the borders with small flowers, blossoms and leaves coming out delicately. This decoration is free and asymmetrical, full of charm and remaining equally beautiful in spite of the different fashion trends. Each forks top part is decorated with embossed leaves and vegetal-inspired volutes. The case where the cutlery set is stored is the original one. It is outside covered by light brown faux leather embellished with slim delicate golden fringes. The covering is well preserved, showing only slight signs of wear at the corners. The hinges and the closure are also original, just like the inner bone-white satin lining. Inside the cover, printed in the center of the satin we can see an inscription with the name of the shop where the cutlery set was acquired, its address and the city where it was located, Nantes. This stunning sterling silver set of oyster forks is a glamorous article that will distinguish a classy and stylish dining table. Measurements: Width: 12.5 in / 32 cm. Depth: 7 in / 18 cm.
