Precious and Original English Solid Silver Teapot. London, 1828. Magnificent piece with a very original flattened shape. Piece decorated by ornamental profusion of vegetable and floral motifs embossed that are distributed throughout the body of the teapot. On the front there is a shield with an animal engraved in the center, presumably later. On the back part of the body there is a beautiful interior costumbrista scene in low relief, framed by intertwined scrolls of beautiful workmanship. On the upper lid the decoration is based on a beautiful rose seated on decorative leaves that gives the piece a great exquisiteness. The wooden handle is in perfect condition and, thanks to the material with which it is made, it is perfect for the heat inside the teapot does not pass to the hand when serving tea. It is presented in perfect condition, without any apparent scratches or breakage, and with the silver marks that attest to its date and location in a clear manner. The London stamps are perfectly visible, which attests that this is a quality and totally original piece. In this particular piece there are 5 contrasts: in the center the manufacturer's stamp: RH, to the right of it the leopard's head, which indicates that it is an English piece, to the left the dating letter; N, which was included in the English pieces since the end of the 18th century. At the top the so-called lion passant (which is passed from right to left), to indicate royal control over the verifying office, and in the lower area the head of the monarch in profile, to mark that the tariff had been paid to the government at the time of making the law contrast. The tradition of drinking tea spread to Europe from Japan, entering through England, but developing as a common custom throughout the continent. Chocolate and coffee were already being drunk in Europe before the arrival of tea, but all three were expensive drinks that could only be afforded by the wealthier classes of the time. In a short period of time the demand for these profusely decorated silver utensils would increase, accompanied by a series of elements such as teaspoons, sugar bowls, etc... that undoubtedly showed the high economic power of those who could afford them.Very original piece to add to a good collection or as a perfect excuse to start one.Measures: 11 x 23 cm Weight: 525 gr.
