Decorative art noveau smoker set made of solid silver and in its original case, made in 1902. It is composed by two silver cigarette and cigar holders and a small rectangular box for the matches. The case is rectangular and is made of brown leather; it has an inscription in golden lettering, SOUVENIR de la Ste. PHILHARMONIQUE, and the date: 1902. It can be opened thanks to a double hinge and the inside is covered in bone-colored satin. The three objects are placed in order. In the inside there is a shield bordered by delicate golden flowers and an inscription: J.B.S; FABRICATION PARISIENNE. PREMIERE QUALITÉ. The cigarette and cigar holders, placed longitudinally at the sides, are made of amber and silver. The silver is delicately engraved with vegetal motives, typical of this artistic style. Among them a lily stands out, and also a beautiful womans profile whose hair spreads in a wavy way around the piece. The matchbox, placed in the center, can be opened thanks to the cover at the top. It is decorated with the same modernist vegetal designs that we can see on the cigarette holders, but in this case there is also a wavy central shield with no inscription inside. In it we can see a winged lion, beautifully executed, touching a delicate flower with one of its monstrous legs. Al the pieces have the mark or contrast of the silver (a cock), which means that they are genuine items. A beautiful and original piece which will surprise and delight any smoker. Cigarette holder: 65 mm. Cigar holder: 70 mm. Matchbox measurements: 30 x 40 mm.
