Antique Solid Silver Ewer and Ewer Basin. Spain, Circa 1940

Gorgeous antique solid-silver set composed of a pitcher and a basin, made in Spain circa 1940 and in excellent condition. The pitcher has a capacity of two and a half liters and shows off an elegant and stylized design, perfect to fulfill a decorative role. The handle of the pitcher is a fine sculpture shaped as a woman dress in the Greco-Roman manner. This figure curves her body like a figurehead and lifts her arms to hold a big volute. The pitchers handle is decorated with a delicate border composed of symmetrical motifs which is repeated at the bottom. Under the bottom border we can see a series of engraved symmetrical petals; these petals are also engraved in the center of the basin. These petals meet the pitchers one and create a really amazing effect. At the base of the pitcher and the basins border there are some hallmarks that testify for the silvers quality and age.
