Great inkstand completely made of solid silver, modernist in style and made in the early 20th century (circa 1900). This is an impressive writing article, with a complex and smart Art Noveau design, a style very fashionable in those times. This article is more than a hundred years old. The inkstand has a wide base which stands on four engraved curved legs. Just in the middle, the base bears a silver cameo with the profile of a classical Roman warrior. Just on the base we find the inkpots, with their lids and decorated with an abstract floral-inspired fringe which we also find in other parts of this piece. The central part is a cylinder, taller than the inkpots and crowned by a group of sailing elements: a delicate square sail hanging from its mast, an anchor and a barrel. These elements are part of a lovely silver sculpture which turns this inkstand in a real work of art. The mobile parts of the set, such as the inkpots lids, are attached to chains so they will not get lost. A well as the mentioned parts, this great writing piece comes also with two pens. One of them is shaped like a birds feather and has its own nib. The engraving work is highly delicate and we can see all the feathers fibers. The other pen is shaped like an elegant rod with a silver band twisting around it. These two pens are the finishing touch for this incredible inkstand, a luxury antique designed to adorn the most elegant and noble desk. Measurements: 300 mm width x 298 mm height. 1070 grams
