Lovely solid silver snuffer made in Spain in the 19th century. The silver has been molded and engraved to create a nice article in the shape of a chariot with an elegant base fully decorated with embossed classic moldings. This snuffer is surely a highly original piece, and joins its aesthetic attractive and material value to its functionality. The snuffer is made in the shape of a delicate chariot, romantic in style and with two wheels, driven by a rampant horse which lifts its front legs in a dynamic attitude. The sculptural group is beautiful and delicate, revealing a real artists work. The snuffer is composed of the upper part of the chariot and the drawbar. It is scissor-shaped and its two parts open and close trapping the candles flame and extinguishing it by cutting off oxygen. The base is a beautiful piece: the set of horse and chariot spreads stands on an oval surface, even and polished like a mirror. This surface spreads downward forming four elaborate legs full of moldings and decorative engravings. If we turn it upside down we will see some silver hallmarks. The snuffer and its base are in great condition, as smart and appealing as the first day. The pieces show no repairing or loose parts, and make up an original and delicate group. As well as its practical function, this silver snuffer is also highly decorative and its aesthetic value turns it into an exclusive piece. It will surely be the focus of everyones attention in the smartest room or showcase. Measurements: Width: 210 mm. Height: 115 mm. Weight 360 grames
