This fine solid silver centerpiece was made in Spain in the early 20th century. Its profuse and detailed decoration is highly remarkable, in the shape of engravings depicting vegetal motives: wheat stalks, leaves, flowers and bunches of small fruits. These patterns are intertwined with curved moldings and the whole surface shows beautiful openwork, with open gaps which provide the piece with air and lightness. The centerpiece is a great silver article which joins its material value to its aesthetical relevance. The centerpiece is in good condition and the engraved decoration keeps all its original beauty and shine. One of the three small ball-shaped legs which support the piece is loose, but this can be easily repaired by a good silversmith. The centerpiece has also two small solderings, almost imperceptible and that in no way interfere with the beauty of the item. In the center of this piece, just under a nice engraving which depicts a fruit with some bunches of grapes and fig leaves, there is a small rectangular brass plate probably designed to contain the engraved capital letters of the owners name. The centerpiece is not flat but is softly hollow in the center. Probably it was designed to store and exhibit fruits, especially if we consider its decoration. There are two handles, one at each side of the piece, formed by some curved moldings quite similar to those intertwined with the vegetal engravings. This piece is above all a decorative item, and is perfect to adorn a big dining table made of some noble wood. The silvers shine and elegance, together with the wonderful handwork it shows turn this centerpiece into a striking article which will stand out in any place. Measurements: Length: 330 mm.
