Striking Spanish solid silver dish made in the 19th century. This is a very big piece: it is fifty centimeters in diameter and weighs one kilo of silver. It is made of an only piece and its surface is profusely engraved with neoclassical decorative patterns. This is a collectors item, whose great value is due to the quality of the precious metal is made of but also to its great decoration, which reveals the hand of a real artist. The decoration can be divided in two parts: the center one, slightly hollow, and the outside. In the center we can see five medals with different scenes. All of them depict classical-inspired figures: gods, a Roman soldier, a war scene and a picture of two animals: a lion and a wild boar. These images are performed with great detail, in natural backgrounds or in rooms, and they are surrounded by a lot of objects and accessories. The medals are surrounded by a vivid decoration of moldings, masks and vegetal patterns in the shape of leaves and twisting stems. The dishs border bears a similar decoration, in the same neoclassical style. There are two figures that seem to depict classical gods embellishing the left and right sides, while at the top of the dish we can see an even plate with curved edges, which was probably meant to bear the engraved name of the pieces owner. The decoration which fills the rest of the surface is geometrical in style, alternating Pompeian volutes with masks and other details. The dish has no visible hallmarks, but is undoubtedly an exceptional piece because of its great decoration and the quality of the silver it is made of. This dish is a wonderful article that will surely fill its owner with pride. Measurements: 500 mm diameter. Weight 1 kilo
