This amazing solid silver scissors come from London, England, and were manufactured in 1901. This is a real silver collectors item. The scissors come in their original case and bear different hallmarks that testify for the silvers purity and the origin of the piece. The attractive and baroque embossed decoration that covers the metal is especially remarkable and turns this scissors into a singularly beautiful item. Although the scissors can cut paper, probably they were also used in other roles such as extinguishing candles. The handles and eye rings are profusely decorated with embossed motives, undoubtedly performed by an excellent artist. The decoration is vegetal inspired and depicts fig plants with twisted trunks full of leaves and bunches of grapes. The two parts boast different decoration and this fact provides the scissors with great aesthetical interest. The screw that joins the two pieces is also framed by a flower-shaped embossed ring, while the blades are flat and thick. The metal is in wonderful condition and, except for some slight marks in the blades, the scissors are almost flawless. We can see some hallmarks in the two pieces that make up the item. There is a tiger head that indicates the scissors were made in London and a lion that testifies for the metal purity. We also distinguish Queen Victorias profile and the capital letters SM. All these hallmarks guarantee the quality of the item, which in addition comes in its original case. This piece is well preserved: it is dark red outside and inside is lined with blue satin. The fabric that covers the inside of the lid bears a golden inscription with the name and address of the place where the scissors were originally purchased: BARBER & SMITHS GOLDSMITHS 36 CONRNHILL.We are looking at a great collectors piece, a pair of silver scissors that will stand out in a showcase with the best decorative articles or resting on a stylish desk.Measurements: Case: 210 x 90 mm.
