This wonderful instrument is a German topographic bubble level made completely of brass and in good working order. The article was made in the early 20th century, between 1910 and 1920, and bears the manufacturers name engraved in the metal: A. MEISSNER BERLIN, together with the serial number, Nº 886. This bubble level is original from those times and preserves all its components and parts in quite good condition. This is also true for the bubble and the screws, in fine working order. The instrument is not only fully functional but is also a greatly designed tool, wonderfully decorative. The level is composed of two different parts. On one hand we have the stand, a three-leg tripod whose legs height can be regulated by turning the screws. This is a solid and reliable base and is completely made of metal parts, just like the rest of the levels pieces. Resting on this stand we can see the connecting piece that supports the level and provides it with stability. The bubble level is composed of a microscope that preserves the original lenses and eyepiece; the piece that connects it to the stand, and a glass bubble capsule. This capsule is inserted into a cylindrical brass body, attached to the telescope by two metal clamps and screws. At the top of the cylinder we can see a longitudinal opening that lets us see the glass capsule with the red marks that frame the central point. The capsule contains the liquid and the bubble: to indicate the perfect horizontal leveling, this bubble must be located in the central gap between the red marks. This topographic tools simple and efficient design turns it into a functional item, even though it was manufactured almost one hundred years ago. It is also a lovely antique. This impressive topographic bubble level is a real collectors item that will draw everybodys attention in any shelf or showcase. Measurements: Width: 12.5 in/32 cm. Height: 7 in/18 cm.
