This curious device, stored in a fine solid mahogany wooden box and with a complete set of accessories and spare component parts, is a steam-engine indicator made in 1906. The indicator is complete and all its parts are original and in very good condition. This device was used to check the power and strength of steam engines in the early 20th century; these engines were used in many fields of industry. To use it, the indicator had to be connected to some special valves that were then attached to the steam-generating system of the engine itself. Nowadays this article is obsolete but it has undoubtedly preserved its antique charm and intrinsic beauty: the pieces and accessories are delicately made of chrome-plated metal and solid wood, and are stored in a solid mahogany box that preserves the original handles and locks. The device bears the name of the model (IMPROVED ROBERTSON THOMPSON) and the serial number 7595 engraved in the metal, as well as the manufacturers name and the city where the article was made: JAMES L. ROBERTSON & SONS NY CITY U.S.A. As delicate as functional, this wonderful antique machine is an exclusive piece, quite interesting for any self-respecting collector. Measurements: Width: 8.6 in/22 cm. Height: 7.4 in/19 cm.
