This scientific device is a portable surveying level, a very antique piece made in Germany in the late 19th century that has survived to our days in quite good condition. The level works fine and can be used. All the pieces and components are original and remain in operative condition in order to use the level, the user must just assemble them properly. The instrument comes in its original case, also well preserved and perfect to protect and carry it.Portable surveying levels are usually used by scientists, topographers and other experts in travels and routes. So they must be small in size and easy to carry. This is the case of the level that we can see in the images: when dismantled takes up little space, and once assembled it provides the user with the right performance. Its component parts are made of black-lacquered iron and golden brass, and remain in quite good condition. They show the logical signs of the trace of time and use, but this detail provides them with an interesting past and great personality.The levels telescope preserves the original lenses, as well as the glass ampoule with the liquid and the bubble. The bubbles brass case bears an engraved inscription with the devices patent number: D.R.P. 36795. The case where the level is stored once dismantled is semi-circular in size and is covered in black leather. The covering is quite well preserved and so are the lovely metal locks: they are adorned with fine decorative details. Inside the case is covered of blue velvet, original from the period and in great condition.This antique portable surveying level is perfect to become part of a good collection of scientific antiques.Measurements: Width: 4.7 in / 12 cm.
