This amazing piece is a drawing and measurement tool set for architects, preserved in their original wooden case and in really good condition. The set is complete and looks fine; the metal tools preserve the nice antique patina created by the trace of time and the use. It comes from England, was made by Roberson, C., & Co. Ltd located in 99 Long Acre, London, and is dated between the late 19th and the early 20th centuries. All the pieces were made in this period, and among them there are quite rare items that turn the set into a truly fascinating article. The Roberson, C., & Co. Ltd. firm was founded by Charles Roberson (1799-1876) in 1810. Roberson was one of the main suppliers of drawing tools, brushes, colors and artistic paintings of England. Among its select clientele we could find painters such as Turner, Whistler and Sargent, designers such as William Morris, William Morgan and Walter Crane and members of the royal framily such as the Queen Victoria herself. It is known that the company remained at 99 Long Acre from 1853-1937. The wooden case contains a removable tray where most of the utensils are stored. To the left of the tray we can see a series of compasses and drawing pens with different accessories. To the right there are two sets of parallel rulers, one of them made of white bakelite and the other made of wood. One of rulers is slightly crackled at one end; on the contrary, the wooden rulers are complete and flawless. Among the tools that make up the set we find a very special article. It is an architects ruler designed to trace perspectives. The ruler bears different scales so the user can draw spaces proportionally. It is in very good condition: the scales can be perfectly red. The set also includes some drawing pens, a metal bracket, some other rulers and a tool to drill lines on the paper. The storing case is made of solid oak wood and has inner compartments. The covers inner side and the tray are lined with dark blue velvet, original and very well preserved. Charismatic and ancient, this wooden case with drawing utensils for architects is an exclusive piece for demanding collectors. Measurements (Open): Width: 13.7 in / 35.5 cm. Height: 10.4 in / 26.5 cm.
