Curious antique portable surveying level, in very good condition and working order. This level comes from Germany and is dated in the late 19th century. Though being more than one hundred years old, it is complete and remains in quite good condition. The storing case is original too and remains very well preserved. In order to properly store the level, it has to be dismantled; the different pieces fit in their respective compartments. This way, the level is quite easy to carry anywhere and perform field work. The instrument is made up of different component parts, all of them in good condition. The main piece is a cylinder (telescope) made of black-lacquered cast iron and brass. The telescope mounts a bubble for its good leveling. The bubble capsule is in perfect condition and is original from the time. The telescope mounts a bottom piece that can be connected to the rest of the elements in order to mount the instrument. On the other hands, the lenses are original too and remain in great condition. The bubble capsules brass casing bears an inscription with the instruments patent number: D.R.P. 36795. As stated before, the level comes in its original semicircular storing case with a fine black-leather outside lining. The lining is greatly preserved and so are the nice brass locks and the hinges. Inside, it is covered of purple velvet. In general, the case is well preserved and is the perfect piece to store and carry the portable level. This antique portable surveying level is a charismatic and imposing piece bound to shine in a great collection of old-time scientific devices. Measurements (Case): Width: 23 cm. Depth: 10 cm.
