Striking portable surveying level in good condition and in its original old-time storing case. The level comes from Germany, where it was made in the 19th century. Though being such an ancient piece, this device preserves all its original component parts and pieces and can still be used to perform topographic tasks. The level is made of black-enamel cast-iron and brass; though showing clear signs of the trace of time and the use (that otherwise provide the item with personality and charm), both materials are in good condition. The black-lacquered finish is complete and shiny, while the brass preserves the original transparent lacquer that provides it with a warm and deep shine. The bubble level attached to the bottom of the telescope keeps the original glass capsule in good condition; the brass casing bears the serial number DRP 36795 engraved in the metal surface. The storing case is original from the time; it has an outside black-leather covering and an inside purple satin and velvet lining. This outstanding antique portable surveying level is a real collectors piece, worthy of inclusion in a museum of turn-of-the-century technology. Measurements: Length: 5 in / 12.7 cm. Height: 4.52 in / 11.5 cm.
