Antique Gurley surveyors compass made in the USA circa 1920, in very good condition and perfect working order. The compass is entirely original from the time and is more than one century old, a very surprising feature considering its amazingly good condition and truly modern design. The compass mounts a square-shaped aluminum casing with graduated scales at every side; the scales are very well preserved, clearly engraved and legible. It also preserves the original bubbles in their glass ampoules and brass casings. At both sides of the dial there are two brass plates with hinges that can be folded on the compass. Engraved in the dial we can see the manufacturers signature in a delicate cursive lettering. The compass comes in its original leather case, greatly preserved too and with the engraved manufacturers name: W.&L.E. GURLEY TROY. N.Y. U.S.A. This antique Gurley surveyors compass will be the best gift for a lover of surveying instruments made in the early 20th century. Measurements: Side: 4 in / 10 in.
