Antique graphometer for architects or surveyors - topographers made in France circa 1850, in its original storing box and in excellent condition. This beautiful measuring instrument keeps all its original component parts and pieces, including an operative compass. The graphometer is made of brass and is finely preserved, showing scarcely any signs of the trace of time and use. The alidade (the mobile ruler) bears a hand-engraved inscription in a stylish cursive lettering which reads: Leydecker, Quai de l`Horloge Fabricant Nº 39 a Paris. The compass is a gorgeous piece with copper casing, metal crown and black needle, solidly screwed to the limb. The graphometer comes in its original storing case, a sturdy and attractive solid wooden box with metal corners and reinforcements, locking hooks and handles.
