This delicate and decorative weapon is a clasp knife, made in Seville (Spain) in the 10th century. The knife is in good condition and boasts a singular beauty, with antler butts decorated with brass inlays. The blade is made of steel and bears a delicate engraved motive. Both parts are original and the clasp knife can be easily opened and closed, thanks to its well preserved axe. The delicacy of its decoration and its original design turn this clasp knife into a very interesting article for any lover of bladed weapons.The knifes butts are made of antler and boast a nice color that goes from ochre to brown. They have been delicately carved in order to in introduce the brass details that adorn them. These details are two long plates, one at each side, engraved with semicircles regularly scattered in an alternative pattern. The plates are accompanied by slim brass cords. The butts ends are also made of brass: one of them hides the axe that connects the butts and the blade, and the other is a pointed piece designed to hide the blades edge. Both parts bear a simple decoration of parallel and crossed lines.The knifes blade, made of still and in quite good condition, bears a fine engraved motive that adorns the part connected to the butts. It is a simple vegetal-inspired decoration made up by volutes framed by a rectangle. The decoration can be perfectly appreciated though it is slightly blurred due to time.
