This amazing saber, a custom-made arm profusely decorated with embossed reliefs, is an antique piece made in Toledo (Spain) in 1882. The saber is in good condition and comes with its original steel scabbard. The blades beauty is highly remarkable: the point close to the hilt is decorated with hand-engraved motives on both sides. Among these motives we can see the capital letters DGS elegantly carved, indicating that this saber was custom-made for its owner with his names initials. The decoration is composed of groups of classic volutes and details geometrically disposed, engraved in the blade in high-relief. While in one side the motives surround the initials, in the other there is an inscription that reads: ARTª. FABª. DE TOLEDO 1882 (Artillery Factory of Toledo 1882) and indicates the place and the year of manufacturing. The hilt is also very attractive. It boasts a simple design, with the guard and the cross-guard making up an only piece that curves to meet the pommel. The outer side of the guard is decorated with an impressive engraving that depicts the artillery coat of arms: two crossed bayonets with a hornet in front of them. This group is flanked by two laurel branches, tied at the bottom with a ribbon so they make up a laurel wreath. Over this image we can see a majestic royal crown. Las but not least, the wooden hilt preserves the leather covering and the wire that secures it. This custom-made saber, more than one hundred years old, is a piece worthy of being shown in an honor place because of its beauty and quality. Measurements: Blade: 34.6 in/88 cm. Saber (with hilt): 38.1 in/97 cm.
