This amazing piece is a set of two throwing knives made of steel and boasting a very original design. The knives come in their beautiful wooden and brass scabbard and the whole set is in very good condition. They date from the early 20th century (circa 1900) and their aesthetics and decoration suggest that they could come from the north of Africa (the Maghreb). The knives are well preserved and show only slight traces of rust in the handles, something logical if we consider their ancient age. Nevertheless, this detail is just a witness of their history and past, and provides the set with personality and charm. Each knife is made of an only metal piece. They are both fully balanced in the center, just in the place where the handle meets the blade. This feature is typical of throwing knives, being an essential aspect to perform a perfect throwing so the weapon goes right to the desired point. Another interesting detail of this set of knives is the handles decoration: the metal shows a series of fine geometrical Arabic-inspired motives. The blades are also delicately decorated with a discreet motive (a hole between some symmetrical grooves), located in the center of the spine. The scabbard that protects the knives is an especially attractive piece. It is made of two symmetrical solid wooden pieces with a nice golden brown color and in very good condition. The wood is decorated with silvery-metal geometrical embedded details. The scabbard is also reinforced by three wide brass bands at the point, the center and the locket that provide the piece with aesthetical interest too. The brass bands are also embellished with a simple pattern composed of punched crossed lines. This set of throwing knives is a gorgeous item that will shine in a showcase where antique and exotic weapons are exhibited. Measurements: Knives Length: 9.2 in / 25 cm.
