This beautiful antique dagger is a delicate and original piece, made in Spain in the 19th century and in good condition. In spite of being more than one hundred years old, the dagger keeps all its parts and remains as good-looking as when it was originally made. The attractive patina created by the trace of time on the steel and the rest of the material is a very remarkable feature that increases this weapons charm and personality. We are probably looking at a defense dagger. The daggers blade is made of still and boasts a straight, stylized and sharp design. It is well preserved and remains strongly attached to the hilt. At the point where both parts meet there is a small a brown leather piece. The dagger that we can see in the image is a singularly rich and decorative piece that probably belonged to a well-situated person. Surely, the most remarkable part of this defense dagger is the hilt. It is shaped like a cross and is made of embossed brass and carved bone. The cross-guard is made of brass and has a rectangular central piece decorated with a vegetal-inspired motive. The quillons that make up the cross-guard are straight and symmetrical, embellished with similar motives and with Indians heads molded and engraved al both ends. The pommel is made of brass too and shows two lions heads at its sides. The grip is covered by bone, flat and even at one side and with hand-carved motives at the other. The carving is composed of simple vegetal detains and volutes. Its delicate look and great condition turn this lovely antique dagger into a piece worthy of a history museum.
