This is a rare type of British Infantry sword of the Napoleonic era. The manufacturer was John Knubley from Charing Cross. Its beautiful grip is decorated with geometric lines topped by a beautiful vertical slightly concave dish with delicate floral decoration on the outside. It is in perfect condition, with original leather scabbard with brass reinforcements, very well maintained that keeps all its flexibility. The blade was made of steel and is kept in very good condition; it shows the inscription "Knubley" on top. However, It is not complete, as it lacks the ring of the garrison, but this does not affect to the beauty of the piece. The sword takes its maximum development during the middle Ages, and throughout history appear the most varied models, with a clear development towards losing weight and extreme flexibility. When new defensive weapons appeared such as chain mail and steel plates in the armour, it was necessary to provide the swords of a more powerful penetration, giving place to a sharper and more rigid tip, making them shorter in order to make them lighter. Military swords date from seventeenth century, but in England its standardization did not exist until 1796. The infantry had to wear a straight-bladed sword with the blade arc saved bowl to protect the knuckles. During the Napoleonic war the sword was the most useful weapon. There was a wide variety of them regulated depending on the use to which they were supposed. This is a beautiful sword from one of the most fascinating periods of history.Dimensions: 94 cm (with scabbard), 93 cm (without scabbard) and 79 cm (blade only).
