Decorative handle in ivory decoration with geometric lines that facilitate vertical grip. Given the delicacy of the material and the passage of time shows some cracks, but the general condition is right, not tarnishing the beauty of contemplation. The garrison in bronze is marked by a delicate floral decoration at the bottom that ends in an animal head. This decoration makes the connection between the top or knob, which enhances a front helmet with convex dish that shows a scene with a central warrior flanked by two five-pointed stars. It remains in perfect condition, and it keeps the original leather scabbard with brass reinforcements on top and bottom, with slight signs of use, but it maintains full flexibility. The ending of the tip is in excellent condition and its edge is intact. The sword takes its maximum development during the middle Ages, though changes through history, with a clear development towards losing weight and getting more flexible. When new defensive weapons such as chain mail and steel plates in the armour appear, the need to provide the swords a greater power of penetration is bigger, that is why they get a sharper tip, and they become shorter in order to make them lighter. Military swords date from seventeenth century and were distributed as charged. Infantry had to bring a straight-bladed sword with the blade arc saved bowl to protect the knuckles. The French sword handle is characterized by being more curved than other European models, as well as often appearing topped with a knob at the end as in this example. This is a very prestigious and superb beautiful weapon. Dimensions: 95 cm (length and scabbard), 90 cm (without scabbard) and 75 cm (blade only).
