Superb antique French navy officer sword made in the beginning os the 20th century and in good condition. The sword mounts a steel blade with two small hallmarks close to the grip. It also bears an engraved inscription (Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal). The hilt has an ebony- finished wooden grip with brass twine, in very good condition. The grips outer side is covered by a brass embossed piece that connects with the pommel, made of brass too. The pommel is welded to the cross-guards narrower end. The cross-guard itself is a beautiful piece with a fine filigree work depicting branches with leaves and an anchor. The other end of the cross-guard is shaped as a birds head. The sword comes with its original ancient scabbard, made of black leather with brass locket, end and central reinforcement. The locket is adorned with an embossed anchor with symbolizes the navy force this sword once belonged to. Authentic and lovely, this antique French navy officer sword is still as beautiful as when it was originally made, more than one hundred years ago. Measurements: Total Length: 88 cm.
