Outstanding German Navy sword made between the Republic of Weimar era (circa 1920) and the Thrird Reich era, in very good condition. The sword is a beautiful piece, with a fine hilt full decorative engraved details and the original scabbard in great condition. The steel blade with fuller is very attractive and shows no signs of rust or wear, looking polished and shiny. The hilt is a lovely piece and mounts bone grip with golden twine and hand-engraved brass cross-guard. The brass pommel is shaped as a lions head; the back of the grip is covered by a brass plate with an engraved decoration depicting the animals manes. The cross-guard is foldable (it has two wings that can be folded inwards) and is decorated with an embossed anchor, symbol of the navy. The black leather scabbard preserves the brass locket, end and central reinforcement, all of them greatly preserved and with the brass rings than were once connected to the strap. Both, the sword and the scabard have matching serial numbers and the control letter O. This antique German navy sword will stand out on a visible wall or in the collection of a demanding weapon lover. Measurements: Total Length: 91 cm. Blade Lenght: 78 cm.
