Amazing Prussian cavalry sword dated circa 1879, almost 150 years old and in very good condition. The sword is completely made of steel: the blade, the hilt and the scabbard. The blade is profusely decorated with engraved motives, all of them connected with the cavalry corps. We can see an army composed of horsemen entering into combat and a knight on his horse. There are also many symmetrical decorative details, vegetal-inspired engravings and a fine horse head inside a circular frame. The blade bears an inscription that indicates that the sword once belonged to the Cavalry Regiment Nº 20 of King William I (1861-1888). The inscription is engraved in fine Gothic lettering. The steel D-guard bears an engraved royal shield with a helmet, the sheild os the state of Wurttemberg, in Germany, and is divided in several branches. The pommel is made of dark wood. This striking sword shows a wonderful decoration. Together with its ancient age, it turns it into a piece worthy of inclusion in a museum of war history. Measurements: Total Length: 98 cm. Blade Lenght: 83 cm.
