Antique British light-cavalry officers saber-sword model 1796 by Osborn. This fascinating weapon, forged in the Napoleonic period, comes from England and is dated circa 1800. It is more than one hundred years old but nevertheless it remains in excellent condition. At the top of the blades spine we can see the name Osborn clearly engraved in the metal surface. It corresponds to Henry Osborn, famous English sword-maker Henry Osborn who started his career circa 1875 and founded the Osborn & Gunby society in 1805 together with John Gunby. Close to the Osborns signature we can see the number 89, which is also engraved in the metal scabbard. The saber-swords hilt is extremely simple and mounts ebony-finished grip and lean steel cross-guard and D-guard. The D-guard shows off a fine wavy shape. The metal scabbard preserves the two rings to tie the carrying straps. For its noble manufacture and great condition, this antique British light-cavalry officers saber-sword signed by Henry Osborn deserves a honor place in the best collection or museum. Measurements: Total Length: 38 in / 95 cm. Blade Length: 32.8 in / 82 cm.
