Superb antique engineer officers ceremonial sword model 1860, made in Toledo (Spain) in 1861. This is a light an airy weapon used commonly as an accessory of the gala uniform. This model mounts a brass hilt: this is quite a rare detail, as probably the official model mounted an alpaca hilt. At the hilt the upper quillon is missing, but yet the design remains fine and visually balanced. The guard bears the engraved coat of arms of the Army corps of engineers, a crowned turret. The blade bears the coat of arms of Toledo and the inscription FA. DE TOLEDO, indicating the place where the sword was forged. This piece comes with a steel scabbard which is not the original one. Nevertheless, it fits well and is a great accessory for the sword. Stylish and airy, this antique engineer officers ceremonial sword will stand out in a complete collection of 19th-century weapons. Elegante y ligera, esta antigua espada de ceñir para oficial de ingenieros destacará en una completa colección de armas del siglo XIX. Measurements: Total Length: 36.4 in / 91 cm. Blade Length: 30.8 in / 77 cm.
