Very rare French cavalry officers saber sword made during the French Revolution (circa 1790). This weapon is an entirely original piece, in very good condition and with its leather scabbard. The scabbard is also quite well preserved: the leather is complete, with just some slight signs of the trace of time and use. The swords blade is made of lean steel and the hilt is made of brass. The hilt has a foldable D-guard: pressing the button at the cross-guard, one of the branches slides to improve the protection of the users hand. The grip is made of solid dark wood and preserves the original twisted wire. At the upper quillon we can see an engraved schematic motif with a series of lines which make up a flower-like composition. The simple design and the curious foldable system of its hilt turn this rare French cavalry officers saber-sword into an exclusive piece, ideal to become part of a good collection of ancient swords. Measurements: Total Lenght: 38.4 in / 96 cm. Blade Length: 32.4 in / 81 cm.
