Fascinating antique American fraternity sword belonging to the Knights of Columbus, forged in the United States of America circa 1900 and in great condition. In the beginning, this sword belonged to a member of the fraternity founded in 1882 by father Michael J. Mc Givney, a priest from Connecticut who decided to gather a group of catholic men who wished to defend their faith, their country and their families. Today, the Knights of Columbus fraternity includes around fifty thousand members in different countries. The sword has an acid-engraved steel blade decorated with heraldic motifs and the inscription KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS in gothic lettering. We can also see the manufacturers name and address near the hilt. The cross-shaped guard is in good condition: the finely-preserved grip is made of ebony-finished wood and the brass pommel depicts Christopher Columbuss head. The sword comes with its original scabbard, made of steel too and with mysterious symbols engraved in the locket and the chappe.
