Amazing antique Spanish infantry sapper machete model 1843, dated in 1874 and in very good condition. The machete mounts a fine engraved hilt and is signed by the Fabrica de Toledo (the most famous factory of arms in Spain). Infantry sappers were soldiers who developed tasks which involved facilitating movement, survival or defense of the rest of the corps (hence the need of carrying machetes). The weapon that we can see in the images bears the inscription FABCA DE TOLEDO 28174 engraved just under the hilt, clearly legible and in very good condition. The blade is wide and powerful-looking, with no traces of rust and finely preserved. As for the brass hilt, it has a hand-engraved grip with a lovely motif of symmetrical leaves and a pommel shaped as a lions head. The cross-guard is straight and slim and bears the embossed number 32 in the center. Every lover of antique weapons will find an exclusive piece in this Spanish infantry sapper machete, as imposing as decorative. Measurements: Blade Length: 16.8 in / 42 cm. Total Length: 16.8 in / 56 cm.
