Amazing and rare German imperial saber sword made during Kaiser Wilhelm II period, circa 1920. The sword is in great condition and comes with its original scabbard. It has not been possible to identify the model but it was probably made for cavalry corps. The weapon shows off an uncommon beauty and stands out for its acid-etched blade and hand-engraved brass hilt. At the top of the blade, close to the hilt we can see the mark W.K & C with a kings head and a helmet. The mark corresponds to the sword factory Weyersberg, Kitschbaum & C. of Solingen, Germany founded in 1883 and still active under the WKC Stahl und Metallwarenfabrik name. The rest of the blade is covered by acid-etched military symbols, in wonderful condition. The swords spine bears the inscription J. THÖNNES, COBLENZ. This is probably the name of the original owner and his city of residence, Coblenz (Germany). On the other hand, the hilt mounts a gorgeous polished-brass D-guard, as fine and shiny as the first day. The metal is decorated with a crowned monogram and a hand-engraved motif composed of tiny dots. The grip preserves the original leather wrapping and twisted wire in fine condition. Last but not least, the metal scabbard preserves the original shiny black-lacquered finish. For its great beauty, its authenticity and its fine condition, this rare German imperial sword made during Kaiser Wilhelm II period is a real museum piece. Dimensions: Blade Length: 30.71 in / 78 cm. Total Length: 35.83 in / 91 cm.
