Fine briquet saber probably made in the North of Europe circa 1820. The saber is in fine condition and stands out for its simple design and powerful beauty. The steel blade bears a mark at the top, close to the hilt. The mark contains the acronym AA with a crown at the top and includes the number 4333 too. It has been impossible to tell the marks origin, which today remains a mystery. The hilt is an only matt-brass piece in very good condition. The grip is divided in 34 grooves; this feature indicates that the saber does not come from France or Spain (which always include 28 grooves). It also mounts D-guard and cross-guard trimmed by a curved quillon, making up a quite elegant and balanced design. The simple look of this antique briquet saber, possibly made in the North of Europe, combines with its stylized beauty to create a very attractive weapon for any collector. Dimensions: Blade Length: 23.62 in / 84 cm. Total Length: 28.74 in / 98 cm.
