Antique Italian Sword for Cavalry Officer Model 1873. Italy

Antique Italian sword for cavalry officer model 1873, with black blued finish and preserving its original scabbard. The sword is in good condition; it is a very decorative piece because of the fine decoration of the blade. Though it was originally made in Germany, the decoration contains the symbols of the Italian army. This means that the weapon was forged to be exported to this country. The blade and the hilt have been blued; this finish was usually applied in order to prevent light reflections. At the top of the blade, close to the guard we can see the factorys mark and the number 2284. The hilt is completely made of steel; the inside surface shows clearly the patina of time, just like the scabbard.
