Striking Spanish briquet saber model 1879 transformed into a boarding saber. This saber is dated in 1880 and remains in fine condition. The hilt is typical of briquet sabers (original from France and adopted later by the Spanish corps), now it is welded to a blade belonging to an officer of the Spanish navy. In fact, among the decorative motifs we can see the inscription MARINA ESPAÑOLA (Spanish Navy) at one side. We can also find the monarchic coat of arms and the words FÁBRICA DE TOLEDO 1880 (Factory of Toledo 1880). The steel blade bears a black blued finish, applied to the metal in order to prevent light reflections. The one-piece brass hilt stands out for its simple and functional design, remaining in perfect condition too. This original Spanish briquet saber model 1879 transformed into a boarding saber is a real collectors piece, as attractive as original. Dimensions: Blade Length: 28.74 in / 73 cm. Total Length: 34.25 in / 87 cm.
